AVIO SPACE SYSTEMS
Avio is the prime contractor for the production of the small lift launch vehicle Vega, a European Space Agency (ESA program, and the subcontractor for the manufacturing of the solid rocket motors P80, Zefiro 23 and Zefiro 9 and for Avum upper stage. 65% of the rocket is developed and manufactured in Italy.
Avio is also prime contractor for two new generation launchers: Vega Consolidation (Vega C) and Vega Evolution (Vega E), whose maiden flights will be respectively in 2020 and 2024.

Hot firing of the first full scale thrust chamber of the M10 engine for the future LOX-CH4 third stage of Vega E, took place at Nasa Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville.

Concerning the #CoronaVirus outbreak currently ongoing, first of all Avio would like to express its solidarity to the communities and the people hit by the emergency. In the meantime, Avio has activated a range of procedures and actions oriented to safeguard the health and safety of its employees, clients, and suppliers, and to mitigate the impacts on its industrial activities, in compliance with the guidelines of the Italian Government and Health Authorities. As an example, these include the sanification and disinfestation of the offices, the limitation of travels not deemed essential for the business, and home working. At the moment, all of the operations in Avio's facilities, in particular in Colleferro and in French Guiana continue regularly to allow the achievement of the operating objectives. Avio will communicate additional information to provide the latest developments as soon as available.
This morning the Mayor Pierluigi Sanna, the President of the Regional Council Mauro Buschini and Avio's CEO, Giulio Ranzo signed the agreement which will lead the town of Colleferro a step closer to its goal: becoming the European Capital of Space 2021!

Busy week ahead for #Avio!
