"Next Gen EU" contracts funded with 340M Euro at completion signed by Avio for the development of new green liquid propulsion launchers

Rome, June 29, 2022 – Today the first two contracts of Italy’s implementation of the “Next Gen EU” initiatives for Space were awarded to Avio. In the past few months, the Italian Government had decided to invest around 340M€ to improve the technological capability of the Italian industry for “Access to Space”, entrusting the European Space Agency (ESA) as the Contracting Authority with the supervision of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Italian Space Agency and the Ministry of Innovation & Digital Transformation.

Avio: Financing from EIB

Contract signed for the financing of additional euro 10 million with the European Investment Bank (EIB)

Rome, 16 January 2019 – Avio S.p.A., Italian company leader in the space propulsion sector, informs that today it has signed the contract for the financing of additional Euro 10 Million with the European Investment Bank (EIB).

Such financing adds up to the first Euro 40 Million loan issued by the EIB to Avio S.p.A. in October 2017, with the same economic conditions.

The Director General of the ESA (European Space Agency), Jan Wörner, paid a visit to AVIO, together with Roberto Battiston, President of the ASI (Italian Space Agency). The guests were greeted by the CEO of AVIO, Giulio Ranzo.
The ESA delegation also included Gaele Winters, Director of Launchers, and Stefano Bianchi, Head of Launchers Development.

AVIO: Prouplsion Module Completed for the EDRS-C Satellite

AVIO has completed and delivered a major satellite propulsion system to its customer, confirming its expertise in space propulsion systems for satellites as well as launchers. AVIO engineers at Colleferro developed the CPPS (Chemical Propulsion Subsystem) for the EDRS-C geostationary satellite.
