Indian and South Korean satellites placed into orbit

Colleferro, 5 December 2018 – Ariane 5 has successfully completed its sixth mission of 2018, placing into orbit two satellites: GSAT-11 e GEO-KOMPSAT-2A.

GSAT-11 is a telecommunication satellite designed and manufactured by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization).

GEO-KOMPSAT-2A has been developed within the South Korean national program aimed at operating two civilian geostationary satellites. The satellite orbited by Arianespace will be used for climate and environmental monitoring.

Avio is an industrial partner of Ariane 5 launcher by providing the solid propulsion engines and the liquid oxygen turbopump.

Giulio Ranzo, Chief Executive Officer of Avio, stated: “2018 has been a very successful year with six Ariane 5 missions and two Vega missions. We are confident that 2019 will be even more eventful. Amongst others, we look forward to the first flight of the new satellite dispenser SSMS on Vega and by the end of the year, the maiden flight of the new Vega C”.
