The Korea Aerospace Research Institute will rely on the new generation European light launcher

Vega C will orbit the Earth Observation satellite Kompsat-7 of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI). The mission will take place from the European space center in Kourou, French Guyana, from December 2021.

The contract has been signed today by Arianespace and KARI.

Vega C is the new generation light launcher, designed, developed and manufactured by Avio at the industrial plants in Colleferro (Rome). Compared to the current Vega, Vega C will offer improved capabilities at a competitive price leveraging new technologies also including the new P120 and Zefiro 40 motors.

Avio’s CEO, Giulio Ranzo commented: “We are very satisfied with this new contract. It further confirms the level of trust of international customers towards the new Vega C launcher “.

The Vega C Maiden Flight is expected by the end of 2019 and significant contracts have been already signed: two launches to orbit 4 Airbus Defense and Space Airbus’s high resolution optical satellites, one launch with the Italian Space Agency (ASI) to carry a COSMO-SkyMed constellation satellite and one with the Thailand Space Agency (GISTA) for the Earth Observation satellite Theos-2.
